To help celebrate the upcoming Studio Ghibli retrospective at the NW Film Center (1219 SW PARK AVE), I helped curate a series of movie posters by local artists for each of the films that will be showing in May. As the posters started arriving we realized that they were too incredible not to do an art exhibit. On May 16th we will display the original artwork (where available) and high quality prints of the poster art. Many of the artists will be in attendance to celebrate all things wonderful and Ghibli.
Artwork will be on display until May 31st.
WHAT: Art exhibit
WHEN: Wednesday, May 16th, 6-8pm
WHERE: Floating World Comics, 400 NW Couch St.

Castles in the Sky: Miyazaki, Takahata, and the Masters of Studio Ghibli
Studio Ghibli, founded in Tokyo in 1985 by Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata, is one of the most successful and well-respected animation studios in the world. Cultivating a creative force of talented directors, animators, and storytellers under the revered brilliance of Miyazaki and Takahata, Studio Ghibli’s films have been critically praised for their originality, dazzling animation, and epic storytelling and loved by audiences of all ages throughout the world. We are pleased to present this opportunity to see these great films on the big screen on new 35mm prints made especially for this retrospective.
